Venkatesh’s Bodyguard Review

35mmrahuls rating:4/5
Cast :
Venkatesh, Trisha, Saloni Aswani, Prakash Raj
Director : Gopichand Malineni
Producer : Bellamkonda Suresh
Music : S.S. Thaman

Story: Varadarajula Naidu (Prakash Raj) saves Venkatadri’s (Venkatesh) life during his childhood. He is later raised by Thannikela Bharani who thinks Venkatadri should be sent as the Bodyguard to protect Varadarajula Naidu. When Venkatadri comes to the village, Varadarajula Naidu tells him that it is his daughter Keerthi (Trisha) who has threat from his opponents and needs bodyguard. Venkatadri then falls in love with a girl in a frequent mobile conversation. Then a series of romantic and melodrama twists change his life.

Analysis
The script of Venkatesh starrer Bodyguard isn't much innovative except for few minor changes to suit the nativity. Getting into the reality, regardless of the title Bodyguard and Venkatesh's biceps, the film is totally inclined towards a love story than an action entertainer. It remains lighthearted for the majority of the runtime except when the villains suddenly surface at times and towards the climax. Venkatesh’s body guard is totally off guarded and does not look convincing.  Surely, the movie draws comparisons with its counterparts from other industries and you have to tell that the Telugu version did not do justice to the original version. Unnecessary songs, routine fights and clumsy screenplay makes the movie uninteresting.

Venkatesh works more for a surprise element in the climax but it isn't something that you can't see coming. In fact, you can relate the same climax to Nagarjuna’s Santosham. And though the climax is predictably clichéd, he doesn't leave much scope for melodrama. The pacing is not so quick, music is not peppy, action is stylized and editing towards the second half should have been better.

final word: Venkatesh’s Bodyguard review: The movie does not lift the spirits and reach the expectations of its Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil counterparts. With festive season, perhaps Bodyguard’s run at the box office would be interesting!

Businessman review

35mmrahulsRating: 3/5
Cast:
Mahesh Babu, Kajal, Prakash Raj and others
Music: SS Thaman
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla Ravi Kumar
Cinematography: Sam K Naidu
Editing: SR Shekhar
Producer: RR Venkat
Story, Screenplay, Dialogue, Direction: Puri Jagannath
 Release: 13 January 2012

Story
At a time when Mumbai police announces that there are no Bhai’s in Mumbai and everyone can run business, Surya (Mahesh Babu) lands in the country’s commercial capital with an intention to become a don. He slowly gains momentum and in the process also traps Chitra (Kajal) who is police commissioner’s (Nazer) daughter. Surya then locks horns with big shots and his juggernaut continues to the point where the plot will be unveiled as to why did Mahesh Babu came to Mumbai with such an intention.

Analysis
Businessman is an action packed roller coaster ride and its Mahesh Babu’s show all the way. An ideal movie for Mahesh Babu to hit the screens as the superstar took over from where he left in Dookudu.  Typical Puri Jagannath’s one liner dialogues coupled with Mahesh Babu’s terrific action sequences hogs the limelight in Businessman. The film gives you glimpses of Pokiri  and other mafia based movies like RGV’s Satya but Puri managed to bring his own style of innovation.  He has handled it very sensibly ensuring that there are no duplication of thoughts. Given the fact that Businessman movie was just made in 72 days, boy the output is brilliant and hats off to Puri Jagannath and Mahesh for making the movie in such a short span of time.

Businessman is a perfect mass masala extravaganza which satisfies the undemanding viewers. Mahesh Babu has strong screen presence that works to the advantage of the film. Puri Jagannath is raw, creative and daringly different like he usually is. When such a dynamic director gets the authentic acting support from his superstar, you can expect fireworks on the screen and that’s what happens in Businessman. Mahesh Babu and Kajal give sterling performances to the shouts of 'action' and 'cut' of Puri Jagannath for Businessman movie. The result is that we have a massy entertainer in the face of stiff competition from other strategically released action movies this season.

Performances
Who else? Mahesh Babu comes up with a stunning performance. His dialogue delivery, bdoy language and the ease with which he utters them is simply fantastic.

Technicalities
Music is a huge asset for the movie. SS Thaman once again brings his skills to the fore for the superstar. ‘Saar Osthaara’ number is an instant sensation. Camera work by Syam K Naidu is stunning. His shot selection and camera angles were brilliant and he captured the best from Mahesh’s Babu’s close shots. Editing towards the second half should have been crisper but action mater Vijay needs to be commended for his great work.

Final Word
Businessman movie review: Businessman movie is a mass masala extravaganza and carnival for all those who relish seeing Mahesh Babu in a masala ride. Looks like the crazy combo of Puri and Mahesh has done it again!

Samntha said that she is a big fan of actress Anushka.

Dookudu’s leading lady Samntha said that she is a big fan of actress Anushka. She is impressed with the manner in which Anushka conducts herself in public. Success, they say, gets more success. Anushka in an interview given after the release of Arundathi, mentioned that her outlook towards life had changed for the better after she did that film. Samantha, too, is echoing the same thoughts after her success with Dookudu.
Samantha also revealed that for now she is concentrating on picking the right scripts that will give her a chance to display her acting skills.
To another query, the actress clarified that her priorities are firmly focused only on Tollywood, and Bollywood is nowhere in the horizon. When quizzed about acting in heroine-oriented movies, she diplomatically passed the question saying she does not have the experience to carry an entire movie on her shoulders, but kept the door open by stating that she is open to heroine-oriented scripts provided she has the backing of a solid script and a powerful production house

Tollywood Acts Tough on Dubbing Movies

In the wake of dubbing movies sweeping the Telugu cinema market potential and dictating terms, the Andhra Pradesh Producer Council has decided to act tough on dubbed movies. They have instigated a committee to control the spate of dubbed movie releases in Andhra Pradesh.  This committee consists of top producers like Daggubati Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Shyam Prasad Reddy and some exhibitors.

The committee is formed to put forth few interesting proposals like having Telugu movies should be released for big festivals Sankranthi, Ganesh Chaturthi, Deepavali, Dussera, etc. Further levy 40 to 50% Entertainment Tax on dubbed releases. And that’s not all; even the number of theaters for dubbed movies should also be restricted to around 85 screens in AP.

Ramcharan debut in bollywood with Zanjeer remake!

Ramcharan has been haunted by bollywood movie makers ever since his blockbuster hitMagadheera released 2 years ago.
The trend of old blockbusters being remade with the current crop of reigning stars has gripped Bollywood. Just like how Hrithik Roshan is starring in the Agneepath remake, rumour has it that Ram Charan Tej wants to make his Bollywood debut with the remake of Zanjeer.
Sources close to Charan admit that he is keen. “It’s true that Charan has shown a keen interest in the film, but nothing has been finalised as yet.”
Talks are on and the actor is still negotiating with the children of the late director-producer Prakash Mehra, for the rights of the film. Sources say, Charan should make an official announcement about his Bollywood dreams in two months.
Charan apparently wants to debut as an action hero, not a lover boy. Initially he wanted to debut with a film titled Welcome to the Jungle, a forest adventure, but shelved the idea after his much-hyped Telugu film Orange flopped. When Mehra’s office was contacted to confirm the news, their spokesperson admitted that they were in talks with several people who were interested in buying the film’s rights.

“In the past, many producers have approached us to remake films like Sharabi and Zanjeer. Even now we are approached by filmmakers who are keen on buying the rights of our films. We are in talks with many reputed producers. But we can’t name the interested parties at the moment. As soon as something concrete happens we will make an official announcement.”
If everything goes according to plan we will see Charan playing Vijay, an honest cop who is out to seek revenge after being jailed for six months on false charges made by the gangster Teja.
